Form and Conventions of Print texts
Text A
- This is a scary film poster for the movie Piranha. This is shown through the bold capital text as it could be trying to intimidate the audience. The title has a contrast to the dark background which could depict that something bad is going to happen with in the film. There is a tagline on the poster which is... "Lost River Lake was a thriving resort until they discovered..." This would entice the audience to watch the film as they're already anticipated to find out what happens. An audience could also tell this is a film poster as it has a credit block which informs the audience of the actors and directors.
Text B
- This is a magazine cover. This is made obvious to the audience because of the bright colours and big, over the top headlines. We are able to tell that this is the cover for a gossip magazine due to the celebrities used. Celebrities used like Jordan, Kim and Cheryl make this a conventional gossip magazine as they tend to attract an audience as they are usually with in the press now days. The tagline of the magazine is "This weeks hottest celebrity news" a younger female audience would be particularly interested to read the magazine as they are interested in the stars and gossip. You are also able to tell the magazine aims to attract a female audience because pf the pinks contrasting to other very bright colours. This makes and conventional magazine front cover as the main image covers 3/4 of the front cover. There is a mast head, many images and lots of short and snappy cover lines that accommodate the images. The title depicts that there is friction between people and hot topics.
Text C
- This is a conventional CD cover. You can tell this by the shape and the idea that only one huge main image is used. There are reviews on the cover which is conventional for a CD cover and the artists names is also in a bigger than the name of the album which is helpful because audiences recognize the artist's name first which would them attract them to buying the album.You can identify that this is a winter time audience due to what the man on the cover is wearing to keep himself warm this is handy because people have more time indoors in winter where they would have time to listen to the album. The cover also has a blurb trying to sell the artist to the audience "one of the most revered writers of all time" which would make people want to listen to him.
Text D
- This is a conventional comic strip. It has the typical layout for a comic and it is colourful which would attract many audiences. Comic strips tend to focus on superheros and they gain an audience of men or people who like super hero's in general. There are speech bubbles which indicate that different characters are speaking. Bright colours are used for the hero where as dull colours are used for the villain.

Text E
- This is an advert. It would instantly make the audience laugh as it uses pun to exaggerate how good the product is (when you are up in the air there is alot of suction.) This advert is quite simplistic and there isn't to much going on. It is clear that the advert is trying to sell a hoover as the logo is presented.
Text F
- This advert is selling a book. You are able to tell this as it has the layout that a book's front cover should have. The bold writing and dark colours depict that there could be a pessimistic, morbid theme throughout the book and this would make an audience member want to read it. Also there are reviews suggesting how good the book is which would also make an audience member anticipated to read the book. The title has some words bigger than the other which could highlight the main themes with in the book so an audience would want to find out what will happen. Also the idea that the author is bestselling shows how the author is extremely popular so this would make an audience want to read their work.
