The victim’s mouth is shown hear so we can see how heavy she actually is breathing. Furthermore we can see the sweat around her mouth. The audience never sees the victim’s full face in the opening sequence because there will be that element of mystery and suspense, making the audience anticipate.

The audience are again intimidated by the masked ones yet the camera is closer to them now depicting that they have caught up with the victim.
